Hi there! My name is Katie Thompson, and I am a multimedia, one-man-band reporter. I shoot, write and edit my own content for print, web and television. I am a graduate of the Dempster School of Communication at Hofstra University with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. Since receiving my degree, I have spent the past year in the city of Boston working behind the camera as a producer, and am now pursuing my career as a reporter. I am anxious to find a permanent home for my work, and know that I will thrive anywhere willing to give me a chance to do so. While at Hofstra, I was the solo field reporter and anchor for Newswatch35, Hofstra's first student-produced newscast run by our local RTDNA chapter. I also interned for ABC-7 News in Manhattan, working behind the assignment desk, gathering interviews and logging sound bites for VO/SOT stories. A great accomplishment of mine was being chosen to serve as a media relations assistant for the 2008 third and final presidential debate. Born in the coastal community of Kennebunk, Maine, I have always been motivated and a hard worker. As a young child I gained a strong sense of curiosity, which fueled my passion for journalism and reporting. Now, with a year of professional production under my belt, I am anxious and ready to begin my next journey. *Able to relocate immediately* |
